She does love him however if she accepts it there’ll be too many hurdles for her to cross which will be difficult since she a) hasn’t met her own goals yet, b) hasn’t recovered truly from her past (for example her self confidence and esteem is still quite low) and c) her love and his are different, her is more pure and naive while his is intense and without a doubt dangerous.
All things considered she really made the right choice in looking before leaping into this rabbit hole like situation.

this is definitely not the damsel-in-distress-saved-by-knight-in-shining-armour the first few chapters portrayed it to be !! everyone else in the comment summarised it pretty well but yes this is an incredible story about a woman trying to survive in a misogynistic society that goes out of their way to bring her (and every other breathing female) down and keep them from unlocking their true potential. ML is really just playing the very (royal ! charming ! charismatic ! magic !) supportive boyfriend role atm and I cannot wait for more of his story to unfold !!!!
