I think some people are uncomfortable with emiel being the ml (including me) is because we’ve seen him as a family figure for estelle. He’s more of a father/brother to her and practically raised her when she’s young so the fact that he became the love interest makes it a bit uncomfortable.

I was rooting for Emel all this time. Even if it seemed a little dubious what with him meeting her at such a young age. Even if he kept concealing his lineage/family from Estelle. Even if he let her think he rejected her.
Then I realized, why do I have to keep waiting for him to be a decent ml at the very least when most of his actions and decisions through the chapters showed that he’s actually emotionally stunted and is a huge coward?

Ok there’s a war going on below so I’m just gonna put my opinion here too.
Both of them made mistakes but they are understandable and forgivable mistakes.
Despite her past memories, Estelle’s still mentally 18 years old. From what I can see, this is her first relationship in both lives. She “put on her big girl pants” but it was a forced growth due to a sudden tragedy rather than naturally and gradually coming-of-age. Afterwards, she realizes that she has fallen in love with someone who was like an older brother to her growing up. Despite knowing the risks, she plucks up the courage to confess to him, only to be rejected. Alright, that’s painful but expected. Given time she would have understood and then got over it. But Emel disappears almost immediately after. Imagine that: you risk everything to confess to someone, and they don’t just reject, they go underground where you can’t find them again without saying goodbye or even leaving a message.
Now we know why Emel did it, but he could have handled it better. Would it be that hard to explain it to her, or anyone else around her, “I see you as a child and you’ve put me on a pedestal without knowing who I really am. We need some time apart so I can see you as a woman and you can learn who I really am and decide if you really love me or only have an idealistic crush. Meanwhile, I’m also going to work to become someone worthy of you.”
Estelle’s current immaturity is understandable, she is 18 and dealing with a brutal rejection, the reason for which is apparently that she’s too young to know how she really feels. Emel needs to pay for hurting Estelle like that but his intentions were always in her best interests (we don’t want him to marry someone he sees as a child).
I think the current situation is playing out well. The line between love and hate is really thin. Estelle was pushed from love to hate but she can still be pushed back. And Emel has finally sorted through whatever was holding him back. Estelle also knows Emel better now and her hatred means she sees him as a flawed human rather than the guardian angel from her childhood. They’re in a better position to start a relationship now. And the engagement is a perfect start. They still have a long way to go, but that’s why we have a story.

I dropped this around chapter 44 because the story was progressing so slowly and it didn’t seem like the story was going anywhere. I also skipped ahead to the latest chapter andI just can’t wrap my head around how the ML practically raised the FL huhuhu. And their age difference imo i just don’t see it. Plus, at the beginning she mentioned how she dreamt of her past life but it isn’t even used in the story. Anyway, the art is very nice but the whole writing and plot of the story is just everywhere. The characters, especially the MC, are also very inconsistent.
It feels like this could have been a really thriving omelette but the writers messed up halfway and decided to just make it messy scrambled eggs.

Ok so guys I have been reading the comments and a lot of you guys were talking about how Emel saw Estella as a kid but if you think about it it is a nightmare and as we know Emel truly regretted not saving her from Lefton (the court wizard). And in his nightmare Estella kept calling out to him and asking for Emel to save her. Just because Estella in his nightmare is a child does not mean anything like he sees her as a child or he’s a pedo… although he may or may not see her as a child or harbour any romantic feelings for her is unknown at this point. I dont particularly ship them together but having a age gap of 6 years is not a big thing and is very common and many a times people who have known each other for a long time may have romantic feelings that may form at some point or was already there and they start acting on that emotion it’s not like Emel is 60 so just chill guys.

Idk why everyone always blamed emel and acted like Estelle is the only one who is right about their relationship. No, they have egos, Estelle too, like what she said in this chapter, and I already thought about it looong ago when I first knew the hint about Emel is a son of Marquess Leymonde. He already said it all, and I agree that we tend to have a hardship to tell someone our bad side, but at the same time want them know about our bad side. And I dont fully justify his action, I just think that it is normal, just as normal as Estelle’s ego, that’s why despite saying all this I don’t hate her too. Anne said that Emel is at fault because he was kind to Estelle, like hiding his true nature. But I disagree, we can be gentle to someone without being fake, especially if they are kids. He wasn’t fake, it’s just Estelle changed him. It’s been awhile since Emel planned to become a marquess in order to help Estelle not only as knight but as an ally to the duke’s family (it’s more convenient to help her in many subjects as a noble than a knight, in politics etc), and to be able to propose her someday (I understand his insecurity if he propose the lady as her guardian, it may make rumors to Estelle and surely he won’t that to happen). If you go back and you read the part where she first meets Riddle to the part during the Winter when they came over, Riddle says that he grew up listening to his mothers fantasies about Estelle’s Dad, and that when the first met Carlo he wanted to become friends because of that. I don’t think that’s it. For one, would it have really been appropriate for him to have told her all about his past as her knight attendant? We don’t really know what his past was (in fact if I remember right, which I might not, she actually specifically said she didn’t need to know about his past at one point, but I may be mixing up manhwa), and just as he said, if he wanted to be her knight he couldn’t hold feelings for her. His leaving accomplished a lot of things in his mind. He was no longer bound as her knight, so they had the proper freedom to do as they wished. He had a title, which made him politically worthy of being a potential partner. He could show her who he really was, as up until then he had always been wearing a mask for her safety and comfort and frankly the chances that it’s what she was in love with rather than the real him were astronomically high. They also would be able to have some time apart so they could have the possibility of more healthy, mature feelings rather than the lowkey co-dependency they had (kinda ambiguous because of their relationship as knight and lady). IMO, everything he did was the right call in the context of what he wants

I’m definitely mad at him for how he handled it(specifically how cold he acted toward Estelle before leaving), but it’s not enough to make me hate him or think he’s an asshole. I’m not really a fan of daughter-family relationship stories but even so it was still good. It was heart warming and loved some scenes, and I love how her relationship with certain people grows and her trust on the people around her grows as well. There’s a lot of people saying its similar to many stories out there but trust me this one revolves over trust, bonds and relationships which is clearly depicted in many parts throughout the story. I would give it a 8 / 10 only because I’m more into romance (although it did have a pinch of romance too hehe) and would recommend to those interested to these kinds of stories
