Solid B+ manhwa.
It’s pretty interesting and has some strong (as in decently-written) characters, but I have some gripes about some inconsistencies. Has a super strong start with the plot.
The male MC is built up to be this aloof person who rejects women who come at him romantically, but is still a kind person. It felt like he fell for the MC way too quickly and the whole buildup was all for nothing except a convenient excuse as to why the contract marriage made sense, and even then they could have focused more on the ‘I have a secret about your kinda-sorta rival and can help you’. Normally it wouldn’t be too bad but since the name of the manhwa is literally tied to being the wife of a dude who won’t ‘love’ her (they explain the meaning behind the name ‘duchess with an empty soul’)…. Like he starts showering her with gifts right after they get married,,? Where was all the tension of being wary and stuff?! I get he likes her because she’s ‘different’ but it feels way too fast!
Besides that, it’s a very interesting story! I really like the introduction of the hooded character who’s inferred to also have gone back in time.
P.S. Not a demerit to the story itself, but some of the translations get a bit wonky. I remember there was one where the translators got confused and the MC said, “Why isn’t this making her laugh?” when he gave her gifts instead of “Why isn’t this making her smile?”; they wrote in a translators note for it being like,, yo wtf why would she laugh at that. There’s also one chapter that gets text-gore (unreadable fonts haha), and two that get smooshed together and is pretty unreadable. I get that we’re able to read it for free, but just a heads up!

I also felt the same way at first. The romance seems rushed and forced. Howeverthe part where Ivona mentioned that Claude saved her before on her past life, (and that they would also coincidentally meet when they were hiding) had probably become a seed of feelings for Ivona. She was never treated well by anyone besides Claude, falling for him is inevitable no matter how hard she tried not to. As for Claude, He also had her investigated and found out that their upbringing are similar. They were both abused and used like a tool by their own parents as well. Claude showering her with presents after they got married is most likely due to pity. Claude also have dreams of their past life so he has some vague memories of their time together.

Story is about, as I said, the FL going back in time to prevent all of the bad things that happened in her past life and taking revenge from the person who believed loved her but was actually using her to climb the social ladder, and to prevent all of that from happening, she nullified their marriage and decided to make a deal with the Duke of Argentina through marriage(The ML), and its goes on from that point.
I think the story got a little messy, but as you read I think you’ll find all the good parts in it, like cute scenes and some juicy romance. But don’t let some bad things that people say about this story/manhwa make you not wanna read it.
